BUILDING MANAGERS INTERNATIONAL, INC. ESTABLISHED IN 1965

Building Managers International is an organization of Managers for Deed-Restricted, Non-Profit Communities dedicated to improving the education and professionalism of licensed Community Association Managers in the State of Florida. BMI is the only statewide organization created and operated by and for the benefit of Florida Managers. Our National Board of Directors and the Boards of each local chapter are made up of Managers and Associates working together.

Founded in 1965 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, BMI rapidly grew to be recognized as an invaluable source of education, information and professional association by condominium, cooperative and homeowner associations throughout the State. BMI through their lobbyist, Legislative leaders and financial support brought about CAM licensing. BMI plays a pivotal role in CAM education for the renewal of licenses.

The Members of BMI come from all different areas in the State and from many different walks in life. We represent high-rise, mid-rise and low-rise buildings. We manage beachfront, lakefront, riverfront and inland communities. We have between one and sixty employees. We work for investment properties and owner occupied associations. We’ve been in this business from six months to thirty years. Some of us are independent managers, some are a part of a management team and some work for management companies. Some manage a single association, some a multitude of properties. In spite of this varied background, we have discovered that our membership does demonstrate certain qualities common to each and every member. Most importantly our commitment has always been education, networking and integrity.

RECOGNITION
When a member is qualified he or she may earn an accreditation as a “Certified Building Administrator” or C.B.A.®. The C.B.A.® test can be taken for a fee of $50 after you have been a member of BMI for one year. The C.B.A.® test consist of Florida Statutes and general information regarding management. This designation adds considerably to the prestige of management and is recognized by the State of Florida.
Neil Wayne
Neil Wayne, BMI President, currently resides in Land O Lakes and grew up in the Tampa Bay area. He was formerly employed in the security consulting industry for several high-end retailers. Neil started in community management in 2013 and have worked with 3 different management companies, but his current role is the Vesta West Central Regional Manager overseeing the Brandon office and staff. Neil Wayne has participated in BMI since 2018!
Nicky Asmer
Niurka (Nicki) F. Asmer, Attorney, BMI VP. For more than a decade, community associations have turned to Attorney Nicki F. Asmer for legal advice relating to multiple issues faced in their communities. Her knowledge and experience in community association law has assisted board members and CAMs in amending governing documents, and the day to day operations of community associations. In addition to her passion of law, she is also the mom of two young boys.
Meshell LaVergne
Meshell LaVergne, BMI Treasurer, LCAM, CMCA® , AMS®. Meshell was born and raised in Florida, and currently resides in Tampa. She is the VP of Community Relations at Vanguard Management Group, LLC., where she leads a team of 10 professional managers. Her knowledge, skills, and experience spans over a 20 year period in Association and Property Management. She manages a portfolio of properties, while demonstrating a balance of work and personal life. She has raised five children as a single mother, and has 8 grandchildren!
Dina Cespedes
Dina Cespedes, BMI Secretary. Seasoned Community Manager, utilizing over twenty years of experience in the real estate industry. Known to be an extremely organized, resourceful, ambitious manager with the ability to succeed in multiple functions within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Dina possesses excellent communication skills and a drive to proactively solve problems. Devoted to provide quality customer service and client satisfaction.
Robert C. Mitchell
Robert C. Mitchell III, CIC, CRM, BMI Director. Robert Mitchell is the owner of Mitchell Insurance Services. He has been a licensed insurance agent since 2008. Over the past ten years his primary focus has been Community Association Coverage and he currently works with 100 Community Associations. Robert attended Florida State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in 2008 and Master of Science in 2016. In December of 2019, Robert became a first-time dad to a beautiful baby girl.
Tracy Ingram
Tracy Ingram, BMI Director. Tracy has been in property management since 2011, has been a manager for one and half years She was an admin most of this time for management companies. She loves her job not being stuck at a desk and meeting with the best vendors. She enjoys learning the ins and outs of how plumbing works how stucco damage happens and what damage happens with a crack in stucco, and developer turn overs. I won the BMI Award 2021 for Rising Star Manager. Tracy is also a proud mom of two girls.
Sandra. Fuentes
Community Association Manager since 2010. I am extremely patient and love to learn from people. Helping with events is my creative outlet. My goal is to continue to grow personally and professionally.
Nick Djakov
Nick Djakov, BMI Director. Nick handles the maintenance, staff management, budget, P&L analysis, Project management, Board meetings, vendor and owner relations, along with the fun and challenges that vacation rentals have to offer. Some of Nick's accomplishments that he is proud of are that he has decreased the operating budget by 12% while increasing occupancy by a measurable 19% and raised Gross rental revenue from 1.6 million when I started to an impressive 2.365 million today.
Keith Kaplan
Keith Kaplan, BMI Director. Keith pays constant attention to the needs of all current and potential clients in the state of Florida, specifically related to construction defect repair and legal services during the process. Always maintains a high level of attention to detail and focus on communication in all aspects of the business.
